In the early days, when founder BlackSnow set out to design a rear rack, the basic frame of the RC01 was born.

Over a decade has passed — yet this core structure remains unchanged, a true testament to timeless design.

The main inspiration, to be honest, came from the renowned German rack manufacturer Tubus, specifically the Tubus Cosmo model.

However, we’ve made several detailed improvements to better accommodate a wider range of components and frame geometries.

The RC01 meets nearly every requirement you could ask for in a high-quality rear rack:

  1. High load capacity
  2. Full mudguard (fender) integration
  3. Built-in light mounting points
  4. Wide, stable top platform
  5. Rust-resistant stainless steel construction
  6. Strong and durable, while carefully shaped to avoid interference with the frame’s down tube or chainstays
  7. Optimized mounting points for premium panniers like Ortlieb systems, and more…

Simple, robust, and built to last — the RC01 continues to be a favorite among urban commuters and touring cyclists alike.

So when I was building up a Rivendell touring bike, I chose the RC01 for carrying my child on the back.

Its sturdy and reliable design is strong enough to last through the years — from kindergarten all the way to the early grades of elementary school.
