As a result, this process makes the tubes stronger and more resistant to cracking. Also, heat-treated tubes are more resistant to denting and the frame's resilience is greatly enhanced. Because heat treatment is such an expensive process, the steel tubes used in most framests are not heat treated. Unless a frame says that it’s “heat treated”, or has a decal from a tubeset, which is known to be heat treated - e.g. Reynolds 725 and Reynolds 853.
